Temps on the low 20’s greeting Newport skippers this morning for the first race date in the DF95 Spring Series. Before racing we held a podium ceremony to recognize the top three skippers from the DF95 Fall Series. They were:
- First: Scott McLeod
- Second: Ken Read
- Third: Jeff Roy
Light winds and a slight chop made for interesting windward legs especially at the mark. Lots of pile ups, mark misses and calls of ‘starboard’ echoed through the harbor all morning. Ken Read, even with acting as race committee throughout the morning got the win for the day with Scott McLeod a distant second and Reed Baer filling out the top three.
Much thanks to Dave Moffet, Buster Pike and Ken Read for launching and retrieving the whaler, and setting and re-setting the course.
No organized racing tomorrow. However, those who want to, can join Matt Sole with their B-Rigs to have some fun in the rain! Enjoy!!!
