The sailors in Florida and Texas will really be jealous when they get a load of these pictures from earlier today. Eat your hearts out you guy down south, we here in Newport are truly lucky to get some snow sailing in this morning. There were various sets of gear to keep the skippers warm and dry as the snow came down all morning as you can see from the first few photos.

A light northerly greeted us as we arrived at the dock. Parker Ives did yeoman’s work shoveling and salting the docks and the ramps before the fleet arrived. He was joined by Matt Ward and the two of them laid out the day’s course.
Nothing like snow to bring out the fleet! You know it’s the middle of winter and people are bored when 18 skippers decided it was better to go sailing than stay at hame for a breakfast of eggs, bacon and hot coffee. As Reed Baer mentioned to me before racing, “this is what keeps me sane all winter.” BTW catch Reed’s video up on the facebook page, it’s cool watching the boats sailing in the snow!
Ken Read dominated the action very handily, with Scott MacLeod and Matt Sole distantly tied for second place. Chris Keimig placed in fourth.
A hearty welcome to Simon Davidson, a new member of the fleet, who scored a bullet in his first outing with us.

See you all tomorrow!  LOOKS LIKE B RIGS!!!!
