Ah yes, racing!!! An almost perfect mid winter day for getting out and racing the DF’s. Though it was overcast (which made finding the leeward mark bearable), the temperature was in the mid forties and we had a sometimes gusty northerly of about 10 knots.

Parker and Matt laid out a perfect course which allowed the fleet to get 13 races in! Throughout the morning the Canadian geese migration was in full force with hundreds of birds landing in the harbor, and at times in the middle of the race course. They honked their concern and displeasure every time a boat came near them hoping that these intruders would go away. But, alas, they would have to fly off because we were RACING!!!

Ken read won the day with Matt Ward and Jamie Hilton a distant second and third. A big thank you for acting as race committee to Scott Macleod. He got glee out of calling boat 04 (Kenny) OCS at the start of one race. A big apology to Anthony Kotoun for T boning him at a finish- I was trying to multitask, sailing (not very well), and taking pictures for this report. Mea colpa!!!

I have to say it’s great seeing so many boats out here each week!

Henry
